ACUPUNCTURE & DRY NEEDLING

Dr. Matthew Wilson is a certified chiropractic acupuncturist and has gone through the IACA’s extensive acupuncture training. He has continued his training to include several different techniques aimed specifically at treating chronic pain including (INMAS) and Battlefield Acupuncture. Adding services for professional acupuncture in Des Moines allows Dr. Wilson to treat hundreds of conditions ranging from musculoskeletal pain to allergies, headaches, infertility, and much more. The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as beneficial for over 800 different conditions.

Dry needling is also called trigger point dry needling or myofascial trigger point dry needling. It is done to treat myofascial pain.

Muscles sometimes develop knotted areas called trigger points. These trigger points are highly sensitive and can be painful when touched. They are also often the cause of referred pain (or pain that affects another part of the body). The needles are used to stimulate the tissue, not to inject medication.

Pain affects how your body moves. It is thought that dry needling changes the way the brain and muscles talk to each other to let the system return to a more normal movement pattern.

LASER THERAPY

Extensive training and clinical use of Low-Level Laser Therapy allows Dr. Wilson to treat acute and chronic pain effectively and extremely efficiently often speeding up the healing and rehab process by a significant amount. This saves the patient time and effort with reduced clinical visits to obtain great results.
