Shockwave Therapy in West Des Moines
Heal faster. Fewer visits. Real results.
If you’ve been dealing with a tendon injury, chronic heel pain, tennis elbow, or a soft tissue problem that just won’t fully resolve — shockwave therapy may be exactly what has been missing from your treatment plan.
At Ashworth Chiropractic, we use the Storz Medical Duolith SD1 Ultra — the gold standard in Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) — to deliver focused, precise acoustic energy directly to the tissue that needs it most. Non-invasive. No needles. No drugs. No downtime.
How Shockwave Therapy Works
When tissue is chronically injured or degenerative, it often reaches a state where it stops healing on its own. Calcifications form. Scar tissue builds up. Blood flow diminishes. Standard treatments provide temporary relief but don’t address why the tissue stopped repairing itself.
Shockwave therapy breaks that cycle.
The Storz Duolith SD1 Ultra delivers high-energy acoustic waves to a precise focal point in the damaged tissue, triggering a cascade of biological responses:
The result is not pain masking. It is tissue repair at the cellular level – addressing the underlying reason the injury hasn’t healed.
Why the Device We Chose Matters to You
Not all shockwave devices are equal — and the difference has a direct impact on your results and how many sessions you need.
This is true even among devices marketed as “focused” shockwave. There are a growing number of devices on the market that attempt to replicate focused ESWT technology. Many of them reference the same clinical research to support their claims — but here is what they don’t tell you: virtually all of the landmark clinical trials that established shockwave therapy’s effectiveness were conducted using Storz Medical devices.
The outcomes those studies documented belong to Storz technology. When a competing device cites that research, they are borrowing credibility that was earned by a different machine.
We chose the Storz Duolith SD1 Ultra because it is the device the research was actually done on. When we tell you what to expect from shockwave therapy, we are speaking from the same evidence base that produced those results — not from a copy of it.
Many clinics use radial shockwave devices, which disperse energy outward in a cone shape from the applicator tip. Radial devices are effective for surface-level tissue but have limited depth and precision.
The Storz Medical Duolith SD1 Ultra with Sepia focused handpiece delivers true focused shockwave — energy that converges at a precise focal point deep within the tissue. This matters because:
Many radial shockwave devices and lower-powered systems require 8-10 sessions that the Storz Medical Duolith SD1 Ultra accomplishes in 3-6. While our per-session cost reflects the technology we use, most patients spend less overall – and get better faster.
Why the Technology Matters
Every shockwave patient at Ashworth Clinic starts with a thorough clinical evaluation. We want to confirm that ESWT is the right tool for your specific condition and explain exactly what we recommend before we proceed. There is no pressure and no obligation.
If shockwave therapy is appropriate for you, here is what the process looks like:
- Thorough evaluation of your condition, history, imaging if available, and treatment goals
- Confirmation that ESWT is appropriate — and a clear explanation of what to expect
- First session can begin the same day or at your next appointment
- Sessions are 5 to 15 minutes for the shockwave treatment portion
- Shockwave is often combined with chiropractic, laser therapy, or physical therapy as part of your individualized plan
- Most patients schedule 3 to 6 sessions and are assessed after each one
You will not be sold a package upfront. That is not how we operate. You pay per session and we evaluate your progress as we go.
Why Patients in West Des Moines Choose Ashworth Chiropractic for Shockwave Therapy
Choosing where to receive shockwave therapy matters — not just because of the device, but because of how it is delivered and what surrounds it.
Patients choose Ashworth Clinic because we provide:
- The Storz Medical Duolith SD1 Ultra — the gold standard in focused ESWT, not a budget radial device
- A thorough clinical evaluation before every treatment course — no guesswork
- Individualized care plans that combine shockwave with the right supporting therapies
- Honest, transparent pricing with no upfront packages required
- Fewer total sessions needed — because we invested in technology that gets results faster
- Integration with chiropractic, physical therapy, laser therapy, and acupuncture under one roof if needed
We don’t believe in keeping you coming back indefinitely. Our goal — with shockwave therapy as with everything we do — is to get you better in as few visits as possible and give you the tools to stay that way.
